Climbing Aalborg Tower with Leon Kofoed: The world’s longest rope climb in a suit
Acrophobia: Fear of heights. You’ve no doubt heard of it, and may even know of it from personal experience. Leon Kofoed is a professional OCR (obstacle course racing) athlete with multiple European and world championships under his belt – oh, and he’s also afraid of heights.
Wanting to push himself to the limit, Leon will undertake the daunting challenge of climbing an entire 50 meters to reach the top of Aalborg Tower, using just a free-standing rope – all while wearing our Essential Suit.
Having prepared himself for the challenge ahead, Leon’s long time collaborator Urban Ranger Camp secures him to the rope, ensuring his safety throughout the climb. Secured and comfortably dressed, he begins his ascent.
Leon’s off to a great start and makes short work of the first stretch – mentally focused and physically at his peak. With a crowd cheering him on, it feels like there’s no stopping him. But after passing the halfway mark, he feels the physical toll on his body and fear enters his mind. Finding the strength and courage to go past his limits, he pushes through to the end.
Triumphant, Leon reaches the top, now with one of his biggest challenges ever – both personally and professionally – crossed off his list.
Despite being put to the test, the Essential Suit came out the other side without even a mark on it, providing Leon with all the comfort he needed to focus on the task at hand. Finishing in style was just the sweet, sweet cherry on top.
Watch Leon overcome his fear of heights to complete the world’s longest rope climb in a suit and dare to challenge yourself.
